Laurie - Logo Animation Reflection

For the start of this project I researched in to some previous logo animations, a vast majority of which were very slick, computer animated, and quickly started to feel repetitive which I decided I would like to move away from. This lead me to decide to work in traditional media, initially I was considering ways of applying the physical media to leave the logo behind – such as animating a brush stroke or block print – but after considering various different potential ideas I decided it would be interesting to integrate lots of different media instead of focusing on one. This gave me the idea to produce the animation showing the logo in lots of different media boiling in place before transitioning between one another.

The effect this animation gave off was very successful giving off a heavily traditional and hand-made feeling that emphasises the creative background of the university centre.
I also took it in to Premiere Pro and put in various different effects which mostly worked out really well and produced a variety of different images all of which were really successful.
One of my favourite edits was the invert effect set to about half strength which created a heavily faded effect that you might see in a very old, damaged, film or badly exposed photograph.

This effect however only worked for some of the clips, one of them became completely faded so even the remnants of the wording were lost and another broke the effect by remaining too colourful for the historical reference it implies.

Another effect I found worked quite well was the contrast set to 100 which created a more graphic appeal giving the imagery very bold, sharp appearance, this worked particularly well in how it dealt with the subtle gradients of the shadows on the paper to create highly saturated abstract imagery reminiscent of computer glitch art.
